Have you checked out the Help Centre on VoteSource?
The Help Centre is our online database of articles regarding how to use aspects of VoteSource. It can only be accessed from logging into VoteSource, so you will need to have approved user account to access it.
If users are uncertain on how to do a certain task, for example creating a target audience by electoral area, they will be able to search for a guide that will assist them with doing this.
This is especially beneficial for new VoteSource users who are not entirely sure on how to use the VoteSource system.
A common question our small team gets at the start of an election period from new candidates is can we explain how to use every aspect and feature of VoteSource. Whilst our team are happy to help guide users, we cannot spend that much time speaking with one caller in the run up to an election!
Which is why we would like our users to familiarise themselves with our Help Centre, not just for themselves but to be able to guide new users and volunteers to use it as well.
The below will give an overview of what is currently available in the Help Centre but we are always adding new articles and are planning for new features.
There are multiple user guides for every section on VoteSource. For example,

Auto archiving of Target Audiences
As many readers will already be aware, we recently carried out some digital housekeeping and archived all target audiences created up until 05/05/23.
Unfortunately we do have to clear out old target audiences from time to time as not enough are archived by users when they have finished with them. We also do this to encourage people to run new target audiences so that they are incorporating the newest data provided to us from local authorities.
Please be aware that no data already entered against these target audience will have been lost and if you do require access to any target audience archived you can reactivate it.
To reactivate an archived target audience, you will need to have the name of the audience. You can then go to Campaigns and select Target Audiences. From this page you can select Archived Targets. You will then be able to search by name your target audience and then select it and click Reactivate.
If you have any questions about the archiving, please call us on 020 7984 8000 or

Marked Registers
Wondering what’s the best thing you can do to prepare for next year’s local and national elections? Find out who voted in this year’s local elections!
The marked register is the list of people on the electoral register with a line drawn next to the names of people who voted. You can buy it from your local authority, and enter the data into VoteSource. It’s quick to do, and will help you for years to come.
How will it help me? It’s incredibly helpful to know which people vote and which people don’t. And when you combine it with registers from different elections it’s especially useful to know the people who sometimes vote but sometimes don’t.
It can help you target all sorts of campaigning activity - from canvassing to GOTV to membership recruitment. And it helps us at CCHQ help you as well, by making the audiences we load to VoteSource more accurate.
So don’t delay - and get your marked register ordered today.
The order must be placed by the person nominated to act by the Party’s Nomination Officer, and you should specify a data copy instead of paper as this is cheaper. If asked for the purpose, state “Electoral purposes”.
