Company fined £2,000 for calling TPS registered phone numbers

Campaigners are reminded that it is generally not permitted to call telephone numbers that are registered with the Telephone Preference Service, as calls canvassing for political opinions are treated as marketing calls.

You should therefore ensure that any new locally obtained phone numbers are entered on VoteSource, where TPS screening is carried out every week. Our general experience is that it takes about 7 complaints about a political party to the Information Commissioner’s Office to trigger a formal investigation, and so there is very little room for error.

A company has just been fined £2,000 by the ICO for such calling. Further advice is available from the Information Commissioner’s Office website and from dataprotection@conservatives.com

Connect Calling Leader Board

Connect Calling Leader Board

We are resetting the leader board for Connect Calling; this is in line with entering the short election period and fostering competition.

From Friday the 1st of April the Connect Calling leader boards will be reset so that only calls made from the 1st January 2022 are counted.

This is a process we undertake every year in the run up to May elections to even the playing field for new volunteers taking part in Connect Calling.

So if your stats look different from tomorrow, or you get reports from your volunteers about their stats, please be aware that this is part of the election prep.

If you have any questions regarding Connect Calling in general, please contact connect@conservatives.com

New Template Audience options

New Template Audience options

We’ve added new templated audiences to the Target Audience section of VoteSource.

They work by combining the canvassing entered into VoteSource into one easy selection. For instance, the Con-LibDem choosers option includes all people who are one of:

  • LKVI = M
  • LKVI = P or U who were canvassed using 0-10 and whose LibDem score is higher than Lab/Green/Reform
  • GE2019 Cs who are LibDem now

The people selected will be updated every week, on a Monday. If you have any questions please email insight@conservatives.com

Stat of the Month

Since January 15,293 connect calls have been made. Of those only 4,424 have added new data to VoteSource. In the run up to the elections on May 5th, have you considered setting up connect sessions in your area?
